Nothing remarkable to list here, plus most of them are probably ones that most people wouldn't be interested in. No biggie.
What brought you to this community?
a) I'm always curious to read what Sunfell has to say, and b) like I said, it's a good way to keep tabs on the upcoming insanity.
What intrigues/scares/annoys/[insert adverb here] you about the subject of 2012?
The psychotic things people will do as the shitstorm intensifies the closer we get to that infamous date. The fact that so many people believe in apocalyptic crap and, worse, would gleefully foist it on those of us who Do Not Want. There is also the nagging thought that just maybe all that crap we were fed about God and the apocalypse is true, and if that's the case, my afterlife is going to suck too. But generally speaking, people scare me way more than a particular religious meme at this point in time. NEVER underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers!
What would you like to see this community explore, or accomplish?
Ways to shake some sense into people (even the ones that you wouldn't normally think would be prone to nuttery). A lot easier said than done, I know. :/ But if we have to have an apocalypse (which will suck no matter who's behind it), I'd at least prefer that it not be because we humans did it.
What books, websites, articles, people, etc. do you recommend? Or not?
Can't think of any as I am not well-read in this department.
Is it going to be The End of the World As We Know It?
Hopefully not. Though some people have pointed out that The End Of The World As We Know It and The End Of The World are two different things, which is a curious idea. To me they're both pretty much one and the same. What can I say, I like my creature comforts (air conditioning! internet!) and would not like to live life without them.
Will we have an apocalypse or Armageddon?
Aren't they the same thing? *scratches head* In any case, I hope not.
Will people get really scared and do stupid things?
Oh hell (no pun intended) yes, unfortunately.
Are there actual transition events we should be aware of and prepare for?
If there are, I can't think of 'em right now. (Migraine headaches SUCK.)
What books, movies, documentaries, and documents should we read?
Probably anything that gets recced on this comm.
What should we believe, and what should we dismiss?
Dunno what to believe, but definitely dismiss any crapola that claims to have The One Twu Answer (i.e., salvation), because that smells Scam to me.
Will the Mayan calendar be right?
No idea. Just have to wait and see, that's about all one can do.
Is it the end, or is it the beginning?
Depends on a) how you view the glass, and b) what is it the end/beginning OF?
no subject
